Derbyshire Cricket Foundation and its Association of Cricket Officials are launching a challenge to clubs across the county encouraging them to recruit as many of their players and members on the free online ECB Stage 1 Umpire course.
In 2020 ECB produced a free online version of the Stage 1 Umpiring course and this has seen over 5000 sign-ups nationally. With cricket approaching, we are setting a challenge to clubs to see who can get the most members signed up and through the course before the start of the season.
We see this as an opportunity to:
- Get players, parents, and volunteers engaged in the lead-up to the season.
- Support players who are expected to stand in games where there are no official umpires.
- Create a better understanding and respect for the role of the umpire.
- To create more interest in people considering umpiring as a pathway in the future
Clubs are encouraged to promote the course and get as many of their players and members signed up as possible.
To support the campaign prizes are going to awarded to the top performing clubs.
To get involved all you need to do is:
