Women’s Softball Winter League Review!
Winter 2024 saw 4 different competitions played across both Willows Sports Centre and S20 The Boundary. Willows has been a great supporter of ours for a number of years and it has been great to host 2 leagues here again. S20 The Boundary are a new facility that have a great amount of space and has been a great venue for our comps this year.
Willows Sport Centre
2024 saw 12 teams (2 groups of 6) playing in 2 different competitions: Autumn and Spring.
The Autumn League
The league in the autumn had 12 teams, 2 groups of 6. Teams played each other twice meaning 10 matches per team. Each league took place over 5 weeks on Sunday afternoons with play offs on week 6. The format is similar to traditional indoor cricket but with everyone bowling one over and batting for two overs.
After the initial rounds, Belper Meadows and Marehay both finished top of their groups. The final took place the following week with Marehay coming out on top, finishing the league unbeaten!
The Spring League
The spring league turned out to be very competitive with results falling in all directions. Lots of fun had by all and some very close games. In the end, Belper Meadows and Marehay once again became victorious in their leagues. In the final, Marehay once again lifted the trophy to top off a great off season for them!
We would like to give a special shout out to our new teams this year (Ockbrook & Borrowash CC, Alfreton CC, and Walton on Trent CC), it was great to have you on board!
