Derbyshire Cricket Foundation Cricket Development Coach, Emma Thatcher, has been named 2025 Coach of the Year in the MCC Foundation Awards.

This award recognises Emma’s exceptional coaching skills, dedication, and the positive energy you bring to every session.
Emma’s passion for developing players, creating an inclusive and supportive environment, and inspiring the next generation of cricketers has clearly made a real difference. It is a fantastic achievement and is testament to Emma’s hard work and dedication to the MCC Foundation Hubs Programme.
Some of the kind words that went into the nominations:
‘Emma has given her all to developing the Under 16 girls, she has worked so well with Lauren on the girls hub that the girls have progressed so much over the winter. Emma has helped inspire all of the girls to want to better themselves, achieve their own potential and is an excellent role model for the girls at a very important time in their lives with the pressures of GCSE’s & maturation.’
‘Emma was very knowledgeable about all the roles in cricket and made it very enjoyable’
‘Emma has been easy to talk to and laugh with and ran fun drills’
Emma was invited as a guest at the National Hub Final in September at Lord’s Cricket Ground. Unfortunately unable to attend, Emma was presented with the award last week.
The whole DCF Team express their congratulations on receiving this coveted award.
