The DCF to Launch Ethnically Diverse Youth Council

Derbyshire Cricket Foundation – Ethnically Diverse Youth Council

Purpose

The Derbyshire Cricket Foundation Ethnically Diverse Youth Council (EDYC), established by the Derbyshire Cricket Foundation (DCF) in 2025, provides a platform for young people from ethnically diverse backgrounds (aged 14–18) to share their perspectives, experiences, and ideas to help shape the future of cricket across Derbyshire.

The council aims to empower diverse youth voices, promote equity and inclusion within the game, and ensure that cricket in Derbyshire reflects and celebrates the communities it serves.

Objectives

  • Represent the voices, experiences, and aspirations of young people from ethnically diverse communities involved in cricket across Derbyshire.
  • Contribute ideas and insight to help make cricket more inclusive, accessible, and welcoming for all backgrounds.
  • Support the development of new community-based cricket opportunities that engage underrepresented groups.
  • Encourage youth leadership, volunteering, and personal growth through cricket.
  • Provide feedback and perspectives to help shape DCF’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) strategies and programmes.

Recruitment & Membership

  • Membership is open to young people aged 14–18 from ethnically diverse backgrounds who are passionate about cricket and want to make a difference in their community.
  • Members will be selected to ensure a broad and inclusive representation across Derbyshire’s cricketing communities.
  • The term of membership will typically last one year, with the option to continue where appropriate.
  • DCF will provide ongoing guidance, support, and development opportunities for all members throughout their term.
