It was a glorious sunny day for Derbyshire U13 Girls visit to the tranquil setting of Repton Preparatory School to take on Repton U15 Girls in a T20 game.
With youngsters Emily Ford and Darcy Kent leading Derbyshire on the field for the first time Derbyshire batted first, making steady progress before finishing on 103 for 4 with Hollie Mayfield top-scoring with 39 not out.
Repton lost a wicket with the first ball of their innings with Emily Ford getting their opener caught and bowled. Repton started slowly and lost another wicket at 21 when Grace Wolfenden bowled Emily Walne for 7 but then increased the tempo getting home in the 14th over at 104 for 2 with Felicity Birmingham (55 not out) and Hattie Lees (31 not out) putting on an undefeated 83 runs for the 3rd wicket.
It was a decent performance from the U13 girls against an older Repton Team but there is still plenty to work still to do when they visit Nottinghamshire next Monday.
Any disappointment soon disappeared once the Repton Coach invited everyone into their dining hall for Sausage and Chips after the game.
