Sunday 18th September saw our final women’s softball festival of the summer take hosted at Derbyshire County Cricket Club.
We had 20 teams involved throughout the day from across Derbyshire, to make it an action-packed celebration of women’s cricket!
With 5 pitches across the outfield, each team had 3 fixtures between 10 am and 4 pm, providing plenty of opportunity for everyone to get involved in some cricket throughout the day. A massive 30 games took place with DCF staff umpiring and scoring each fixture, with the help of team supporters standing in at square leg where required.
To see 230 women from the ages of 12 to 70+ all taking part in the game shows how far women’s cricket has grown across Derbyshire in the last few years, and it shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon!
A bar open, the DCF speed cage up and running, as well as a bouncy castle for the kids, there was plenty to do throughout the day for the whole family.
A huge thank you goes to Chevin Homes for their support of women’s softball festivals across Derbyshire this summer, without them events like this would not take place.
Overall a brilliant day for women’s cricket and we can’t wait to do something similar again next season!
