England International, Sarah Glenn, returns to her roots!

After making her way through the Women and Girls Performance Pathway here at Derbyshire Cricket Foundation, Sarah Glenn left the County to play at Worcestershire CCC in 2018 and made her way into the England side for the 2019 series against Pakistan in Malaysia.

Skipping forward to November 2022, Glenn has announced her return to her home county for the 2023 season and will be reunited with a number of girls that she went through the age group system with. When asked about her return, Glenn stated:

“I’m hoping to inspire the girls in the East Midlands that if I can make it, they can as well. I grew up training in the halls here at Derby at the age of 10 as a keen young cricketer and it’s that passion that has got me to where I am today.

One of the things I’m most excited for is to be back playing with some old mates I grew up playing at Derbyshire with but also to see the new talent through the system and play a part in helping them to progress to the next level.

I want to thank Worcestershire for having me and being such a great team to be around for the past 4 years, but I’m excited to be back at my home county.”

Head of the Derbyshire Cricket Foundation and Head Coach of the Derbyshire Women’s Side, Richard Wood, said:

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Sarah back to Derbyshire! We are really looking forward to having her skills and experience back in the team and she will play a key part in what is a young squad for 2023.

I have no doubt her knowledge and international experience will inspire everyone in and around the team and hopefully show the young girls coming through the pathway that if they work hard, they too could have a career in cricket”

The Derbyshire Cricket Foundations Women and Girls’ Performance Pathway is looking for a sponsor to help support the teams from U11s up to the senior women’s side. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact mark.barber@dcfcricket.com
