Derbyshire Cricket Foundation held ‘An evening with Mickey Arthur’ at Derbyshire County Cricket Club as the first fundraising event of 2023 on Tuesday 28th March.
Guests from around the County heard Derbyshire CCC Head of Cricket Mickey Arthur and Club Captain Leus du Plooy speak about their careers, experiences, and ambitions for the 2023 season. Guests were given the opportunity to ask questions and gain an insight into the winter, pre-season preparation trip to Desert Springs and the squad’s mindset going into 2023. The room was gripped by the stories told and hung on every word as Former South Africa, Australia, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka coach entertained the room.
With the event being the first DCF fundraising event of the year, there were raffle prizes won and fundraising games played, the event helped raise valuable funds that will go towards the Access to Cricket Grant, which provides opportunities for more people to access opportunities to be involved in cricket. Grants are awarded to enable people to participate in playing the game or engaging in cricket education programmes across Derbyshire. The access to Cricket Grant helps to deliver against the DCF Purpose to Empower Communities and Improve Lives through Cricket.
