On the 27th of January, the DCF ran its inaugural Women’s Cricket Conference at Derbyshire CCC.
The day was an opportunity for Women’s players and representatives to come and discuss a variety of important topics pertaining to both the Women’s and the Girls game.
There were close to 70 women’s players or representative present on the day! The room was full of energy, ideas and enthusiasm for the Women and Girls game.
Transforming the Women and Girls game continues to be a strategic priority for both DCF and the ECB. Therefore we thought it only right to take the workshop from our annual pre-season volunteer event (Cricket Derbyshire day) and offer a standalone day specifically for the Women and Girls game.
We provided several workshops designed to support the development of Women and Girls cricket and include topics we believe are relevant and important in our efforts to continue to grow the game.
The workshops were:
- Welcome and Intro
- Club Facilities, Funding and Projects
- Girls Cricket – Creating more teams
- Volunteer Workforce: Widening the base
- Women’s Cricket: What is working well? Even better if…
This was a great opportunity for players and volunteers across the county to network, to share best practice and to learn something new ahead of the 2024 season.
Thanks so much for those of you who attended the event. It was great to see so many of you in one room. It’s amazing to see how far the Women’s game has come in the county.
