Derbyshire Disabled CC for 2022

There are many people playing competitive cricket across Derbyshire who have a registered disability, either physical, learning or hearing impairments.

However, very few are aware that they could have the chance to represent Derbyshire in the ECB Disability County Championship or take part in a brand-new ECB competition called the Disability Premier league and even go on to represent their country.

The DCF actively supports cricketers with disabilities to achieve their full potential and represent the county through Derbyshire Disabled CC (DDCC) who play in these competitions. Games take place on Sundays so as not to clash with the standard Saturday structure. Games are played with a standard pink hardball and all rules are the same, with the addition of runners allowed for those with physical disabilities that prevent them from running.

The DCF, along with DDCC are running a series of winter nets on Tuesdays in January, February and March and are inviting any player with a disability to come along and take part to see if they would like to be considered to play for their County or go on to represent the County in the Disability Premier League (DPL). This DPL competition is designed to run like The Hundred, with teams eventually being drafted from a pool of eligible players across the Country and represents an exciting opportunity for any cricketer with a disability. Players range from 15 to 60 so all ages in this range are welcome.

Please can all coaches pass this information to any player they are aware of with a disability and encourage them to come along.

The personal development pathway for disability cricket in the UK can be found HERE so players can see how the Derbyshire Ospreys team fits into this pathway, providing the stepping stone to ultimately getting the chance to represent England.

Nets will be taking place from 8pm to 10pm on the following dates in the Indoor Performance Centre at the Incora County Ground.

January 18th , 25th

February 1st, 15th, 22nd

March 1st, 15th , 22nd
