Thursday 3rd May saw 24 DCF U11 girls from the Development squad taking part in their first intra-county day of the season at Duffield CC.
We split into 3 teams for a mini “Hundred style” tournament of countdown cricket – 80 balls a side. The Derbyshire Devils, captained by Heidi Marsh and coached by Jess Thatcher; The Monkeys, captained by Violet Langley and coached by Georgie Harrison; and the Falcons captained by Cecily Wright and coached by Lara Shaw.
Whilst two teams were playing, the other one was having a training session, making good use of the new nets and the main ground outfield at Duffield. Meanwhile, when not watching the action the parents were enjoying the free Wi-Fi in the pavilion to “work from home”.
All three teams played each other with it looking very much like there would be one win and one loss for each team. However, the final game between the Monkeys and Falcons was turned around by a fine performance from Darcy Wall who bowled a hat-trick (all bowled) which effectively won the game for the Falcons, meaning they won both games.
Game 1 – Monkeys 68, Devils 82
Game 2 – Falcons 100, Devils 65
Game 3 – Monkeys 70, Falcons 74
