DCF and Aspire Winter HAF Programme 2023

The Derbyshire Cricket Foundation once again partnered with Aspire Community and Wrestling Alliance to deliver a four-day food and activity provision for children during the Christmas Holidays.

The winter holiday activity club ran from 3rd January to 6th January. The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme is funded by the Department for Education and supports families whose children are eligible for free school meals, during the school holidays.

Staff from the DCF, Aspire, along with a range of activity providers came together to provide 4 days of activity and food provision. Activities included circus skills, animal encounters, music, board games, getting physically active with sport sessions including, cricket, football and Nerf battles.

Over the course of the four days, 130 hot meals were provided to children from our local community by Josie from ‘Just One More’ Café in Spondon. Josie and her team of professionals cooked, packed and kept the meals warm each day, ensuring the children ate nutritious healthy meals during the schools holidays. The nutritious meals provided the much-needed energy to maintain the activity sessions each day.

We will be joining forces with Aspire for the Summer Holiday programme too so we will be looking for more activity providers to work with to keep the children active and healthy, please do get in touch with Mark Barber to find out more or express an interest in getting involved on mark.barber@dcfcricket.com or 07443229804
