Derbyshire Women and Girls Conference 2024!

We’re delighted to bring you information about an exciting event that will be the first of its kind in Derbyshire!

Introducing our inaugural Women and Girls Conference 2024 @ The Incora County Ground on Saturday 27th of January.

Transforming the Women and Girls game continues to be a strategic priority for both DCF and the ECB.

Therefore we thought it only right to take the workshop from our annual pre-season volunteer event (Cricket Derbyshire day) and offer a standalone day specifically for the Women and Girls game.

We are going to provide several workshops designed to support the development of Women and Girls cricket and include topics we believe are relevant and important in our efforts to continue to grow the game

This is a great opportunity for players and volunteers across the county to network, share best practice and learn something new ahead of the 2024 season.

The agenda below outlines what workshops will be covered:

9.30am-9.45am Arrival Tea & Coffee and biscuits
9.45am-10.00am Welcome and Introduction Welcome from Richard Wood (DCF Managing Director) and Charlie Storr (DCF Women & Girls Cricket Lead)
10.00am-11.00am Club Facilities, Funding and Projects A workshop to talk through all things Facilities and Funding for the Women and Girls Game. We will discuss what was found in our recent perception survey, the ECB’s county grants scheme and how it can make your club more welcoming for female use as well as discussing example and best practice projects.
11.00am-11.15am Break Tea/ Coffee and comfort break
11.15am-12.00pm Girls Cricket – Creating more teams A workshop to discuss how Women’s teams can help continue to grow the number of Girls teams in the county. We will cover:

  • Why girls only?
  • Current landscape
  • Ways to start a girls section
  • Solutions to potential issues
  • Safeguarding the future of the women’s game
12:00pm-12:45pm Volunteer Workforce:

Widening the base

A workshop to discuss how DCF can support the growth of the game with adequate volunteers:

  • What roles and how many more will be needed to enable growth
  • Coach Ed, Scoring, Umpiring, Young Officials
  • How can we help?
  • What is already out there?
12:45pm-1:45pm Lunch Buffet Lunch and guest speaker Q&A (speakers TBC)  
1:45pm-2:30pm Women’s Cricket:

What is working well? Even better if….

A workshop to discuss how DCF can continue to help the Women’s game. A feedback based discussion covering:

  • 2023 successes
  • Plans for 2024
  • What is working well at the moment?
  • What do you enjoy?
  • What do you want more of going forwards?
  • How can we better support you?

The Women and Girls conference aims to offer a wide range of opportunities to support recreational Women and Girls cricket and volunteers.
