Over the past year, here at the Derbyshire Cricket Foundation, we have supported 18 clubs to complete projects through the county grants scheme where over £95,000 has been used.
One club that has benefited from the county grants scheme is Nutbrook CC. As a club, the outdoor area was outdated and didn’t provide enough space for the club’s current growth.
The club came up with a plan to create a new separate area to the side of the clubhouse to be a social space for members and spectators. It will also improve the side access to the bar area, reducing footfall through the players’ entrance on match days.
The proposed project cost slightly over £5000, and we were able to support the club with £4000 through the County grants fund to get the project underway.
James Woods at Nutbrook CC, said:
“The patio has already been a massive bonus to the club following its completion in September. It has doubled our capacity for events outdoor and will greatly improve our matchday offering next season. With a few added touches over the winter, we can’t wait to see people sat enjoying cricket on it next Summer!”
Facilities and Funding Lead at the DCF, Charlie Storr, said:
“The project at Nutbrook provided us with a great opportunity to financially support a club to dramatically improve their social space and ensure that the facilities can be used more often by more people across the summer months. This will no doubt give the club a chance to create more bar revenue and help them to re-invest this back into the club to further improve their facilities and the experience of their members. We were able to support club’s £1500 investment with an additional £4000 through our County Grants budget to allow the patio project to go ahead.”
