We’re delighted to bring you more information about our Cricket Derbyshire Day in 2025 @ The County Ground on Saturday 22nd of March.
In 2025 the focus will be on Coaching, Umpires, Scorers and Grounds Maintenance with AM and PM workshops in each area. Reminder all workshops are FREE.
We’re delighted to be including 2 brand new workshops as part of Cricket Derbyshire Day in 2025.
- The East Midlands Womens Umpiring Conference
- The inaugural Derbyshire Scorers Networking Event
With support from ECB, Derbyshire County Cricket Club (DCCC), Derbyshire Association of Cricket Officials (Derbyshire ACO), Derbyshire Cricket Grounds Association (DCGA) and the Grounds Management Association (GMA), we will be running the workshops listed below.

10.00am-12.00pm | Coach Education- Batting Against Spin | Delivered by Jon Dyson, Head of Womens Cricket at Derbyshire County Cricket Club. The session will focus on batting fundamentals and scoring options for batters against spin bowling. The session is open to all coaches, team managers and junior co-ordinators. |
10.00am-12.00pm | Scorers Workshop- DLS | Delivered by the Derbyshire Association of Cricket Officials (ACO), this workshop will provide the necessary skills for scorers to confidently score using Duckworth Lewis Stern. This is especially useful for any scorers working in higher divisions or cup environments when DLS is frequently used. |
10.00am-12.00pm | East Midlands Womens Umpiring Conference | Gareth Isaac, Regional Officiating Development Officer for the ECB, will be present to lead a session on starting your umpiring journey. This session will cover the progression pathway, professional development opportunities, and local umpiring appointments. It is open to any Women interested in umpiring. |
10.00am-12.00pm | Derbyshire ACO Umpires Workshop | Delivered by the ACO, this CPD workshop will focus on the laws of the game and key discussion points ahead of the season. This session will include practical scenario based activity. |
10.00am-12.00pm | Grounds Maintenance Workshop | An opportunity for Club Grounds Staff to learn from DCCC head groundsman Neil Godrich, alongside the Derbyshire Cricket Grounds Association, Derbyshire Pitch Advisors and Andy Welsby from the Grounds Management Association.
A practical workshop that will take place both inside and on the cricket square. |

1:15pm-3:15pm | Coach Education- Wicket Keeping and Strength and Conditioning | Delivered by Daryn Smit, Head of Talent Pathway at Derbyshire County Cricket Club and James Fitzgerald, Academy & Pathway Strength and Conditioning Coach.
The session will focus on Wicket Keeping fundamentals for young players and the benefits of including Strength and Conditioning into club training. The session is open to all coaches, team managers and junior co-ordinators. |
1:15pm-3:15pm | Derbyshire Scorers Networking Event | The inaugural Derbyshire Scorers Networking Event!
This is an opportunity for scorers across Derbyshire to come together to discuss important topics within the game, learn about professional development opportunities and understand the new ECB pathway. |
1:15pm-3:15pm | Umpires Workshop | A continuation of the morning workshop and an opportunity for umpires to receive further support. The exact agenda will be provided in due course. |
1:15pm-3:15pm | Grounds Maintenance Workshop | A continuation of the morning workshop and an opportunity to receive further support .Information will also be provided about County Pitch Advisor visits using PitchPower. The exact agenda will be provided in due course. |
