Derbyshire Cricket Foundation (“DCF”) is the Governing body for cricket in the county and supports all aspects of recreational cricket. Our Vision is ‘To provide every person in Derbyshire with the opportunity to have a positive experience through cricket’.

Derbyshire Cricket Foundation in partnership with the Lord’s Taverners wish to appoint a Disability development Officer to deliver Lord’s Taverners disability programmes (Table Cricket and Super 1s) across Derbyshire. Through Super 1s, the officer will provide community-based cricketing opportunities, both competitive and coaching, for young people with disabilities. The Development Officer will use the power of cricket as a tool for change, increasing confidence, communication, leadership and independence in the participants. The role will also oversee other disability initiatives including Table Cricket, Champion clubs and the disability pathway which directly contribute to the disability strategy of the Derbyshire Cricket Foundation / ECB / Lord’s Taverners partnership.

This new and exciting role seeks an energetic and enthusiastic individual who has a passion for supporting and developing young people, and working with multiple partners and organisations. The role combines coaching and development work and will be responsible for engaging young disabled people across Derbyshire into becoming active members of new community based Super 1’s disability cricket hubs. These hubs will engage in a programme wide competition and provide a sense of belonging and community amongst its participants. Using cricket as a tool for engagement, these community hubs will provide personal development opportunities to young disabled people through Sports Leaders, informal learning and other cricketing and non-cricketing opportunities. Candidates must demonstrate both team working skills and the ability to work unsupervised using their own initiative. You will be a self-starter with energy and enthusiasm together with good administration and organisational skills.

Purpose and Focus of the Role

The DCF Disability Development Officer is employed by Derbyshire Cricket Foundation Ltd in partnership with Lord’s Taverners to work with selected individuals and organisations in Derbyshire and will link directly to the DCF Disability Strategy.

The Purpose of the role is to deliver the aims and outcomes of the Super 1s programme and disability cricket across Derbyshire. These include:

  • To promote and develop disability cricket in community hubs and offer both participation and competitive opportunities
  • Develop initiatives that increase confidence, communication, leadership and independence. Ensure participants personal growth can develop beyond cricket
  • To promote and deliver the Lord’s Taverners Table Cricket programme across Derbyshire
  • To ensure pathway opportunities for young people with a disability
  • To promote and implement the Derbyshire Disability Development Plan and Policies

The main areas of focus for this role can be divided up as follows:

Lord’s Taverners Super 1s Strategic lead for the development and implementation of the Super 1s Disability programme in Derbyshire
Lord’s Taverners Table Cricket Responsible for planning, co-ordinating and delivering Derbyshire’s Table Cricket programme
Disability Champion Clubs Develop ECB Disability Champion Clubs and provide ongoing club development support
Disability Pathway Grow the disability pathway in Derbyshire and provide ongoing support to Derbyshire’s County teams.
Partnerships Establish new partnerships and maintain existing partnerships to support the delivery of the Disability Strategy

 Conditions of Employment:

Salary:  £19,000 – £20,0000 per annum based on experience

Expenses: 40p per mile will be paid for travel to duties directly related to your work for the DCF as per the DCF expenses policy. This does not include travel to and from work

Pension: Pension Scheme Available

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week to include work on evenings and weekends as well as during the day on weekdays as required.

Holiday: 25 working days holiday per annum, plus 8 public holidays.

If successful in your application you will be required to provide documentary evidence of your right to live and work in the United Kingdom prior to commencing employment.

The selected candidates will need to produce one recent work and one personal reference.
