Their network now totals over 1,600 local community organisations – from sports clubs and community groups to housing associations, leisure trusts, and local authorities. These organisations are uniquely placed to support young people in their communities, by offering a safe place with trusted coaches and organisers. We at The Derbyshire Cricket Foundation are proud to be one of these organisations.
Doorstep Sport is the beating heart of Street Games. It is the tried and tested methodology for engaging young people in underrepresented communities in sport and physical activity, ensuring that sport is delivered in a way that is enjoyable and accessible to young people in the communities we serve. At the core of Doorstep Sport is the provision of accessible and affordable opportunities for young people to take part in informal sport within their local community through vibrant, varied, fun and sociable sessions. Effective Doorstep Sport delivery has a strong emphasis on youth leadership, offers personal development opportunities and encourages lifelong participation.
The Derbyshire Cricket Foundations Street Games session is on Wednesdays at The Derwent Family Youth Hub, 5.00pm-6.00pm.
